The commitment of David Knights towards club
development has not only allowed his club, Marske Badminton Club to achieve
Badminton Silver Club Accreditation – it has also secured him the prestigious
Yonex National Badminton Volunteer of the Quarter Award!
David, from Teesside, is the proud winner of this inaugural award in the
Yonex Volunteer Award Scheme. A number of strong nominations were received for
the award, which focused specifically on volunteering between January-May 2004.
However, what sealed the decision of David as the winner was his
dedication and commitment to securing his club as a Badminton Silver (Sport
England Clubmark) Club. David co-ordinated the operation and planning for
Marske Badminton Club to become one of the first six badminton clubs in England
to achieve this standard. His commitment and personal attention to this project
ensured its success, attending a number of the relevant courses himself, and
co-ordinating other volunteers to attend and support other elements of the
criteria.
